Vanilla sugar is one of the things Jade had made a couple of weeks ago.   Since she has such a passion for baking I suggested she make some to sprinkle on top her pies.  It was really easy to do and it all of 5-7 minutes to whip up.  It turned out so aromatic that we thought we would share it with you all!

Vanilla Sugar

A small to medium mason jar

Organic Sugar~ enough to fill your jar 3/4 full.  Jade used a coarse sugar.

1 Vanilla bean

Fill your jar a third of the way up with sugar.  Slice your vanilla bean in half length wise.  With the backside of your knife gently scrap a bit of the seeds out and place them in the sugar jar.

At this point you can either cut the rest of the bean up into 1 inch pieces and place them in the jar or you can simply just place the two halves in the jar.  We did the second option.  Now fill your jar with the remaining sugar.  Don’t forget to only fill it 3/4 full.  Then screw or clip the top on your jar and give it a little shake.  Every day for 2 weeks give your jar a shake so that all the sugar beans and the bean halves can infuse the sugar.  After the 2 weeks it is ready to go.  You can either remove the bean pieces or you can leave them for up to a month.
